Students succeed when families, educators, and administrators work together! 

Children who have learning disabilities are entitled to appropriate, individualized, educational supports and services that meet their unique learning needs. 

At this valuable, FREE workshop, we'll engage in activities to learn techniques and build skills to communicate effectively with your child's school. A Starbridge Family Education Specialist will provide a practical roadmap to:

• How to qualify for and access special education services

• Communication and Advocacy Steps

• IDEA (the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and your child’s rights

About the Venue & Presenter

The events will take place in The Norman Howard School's well-appointed P. Ken Dennis Theater with full handicap accessibility and comfortable seating for 200. Please request accommodations in advance.

Kara Olds is a Family Education Specialist and Trainer with Starbridge and her focus is on empowering families to make informed choices as they move through the special education process. Kara comes with a wealth of knowledge from her 4 years of advocating for special education services. In addition, she supports the community in raising awareness about disabilities by collaborating with local colleges and their pre-service teachers as well as providing disability awareness training to elementary students.

Free to attend, all are welcome. Advance registration is requested and you may register guests easily. Space is limited, group registration for parent associations or school groups welcome online or by phone.  Light refreshments will be provided.
