The Norman Howard School Teaching Kitchen: A Space for Learning, Growth, and Connection

At The Norman Howard School, we believe that learning happens everywhere—whether it's in the classroom, in the community, or in the kitchen. The newly renovated Teaching Kitchen is not just a space for preparing meals; it's a hub for student learning, connection, and career exploration. It’s a place where academic excellence meets hands-on experiences, fostering creativity, innovation, and community. It is officially the centerpiece of our school—one that will shape future chefs, entrepreneurs, and leaders.

A Dedication to...

This kitchen is the heart of our school, a place where our 100 students and 50 staff members come together daily to break bread, learn, and connect. It’s a space where students gain life skills, develop career interests, and enjoy the benefits of healthy, delicious meals.

We are heartened to, at the suggestion of alumni Tal Ronnen, dedicate the kitchen to the creative and passionate teachers and staff who elevate student learning through hands-on experiences, which engage learners and open doors to successful futures.

Gratitude for Our Generous Supporters

This renovation would not have been possible without the support of our incredible community. We are especially grateful to the following sponsors who helped bring this vision to life:

  • Tal Ronnen, NHS graduate and renowned vegan chef, whose dedication to plant-based culinary arts has inspired countless individuals to rethink food as a tool for health and sustainability.

  • Assemblymember Harry Bronson, whose advocacy for education and community support has been a cornerstone of our growth.

  • The August Family Foundation and The Davenport Hatch Foundation, whose financial support helped bring the project to fruition.

  • Charlotte Appliance, whose generous donations of appliances ensured that our kitchen would be equipped with top-quality tools for learning.

A special thank you also goes to our Honor Roll Society and all our friends and families who have supported NHS throughout the years. Your continued commitment makes everything we do possible.
